LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Workshops- Introductory and Advanced

Introductory Robotics Workshop

There is no need to have had any prior programming experience to participate in this workshop. Students will be introduced to the world of LEGO EV3 Mindstorms. They will learn a number of simple programming methods that will culminate in being able to complete a 'road map' course.

The main aim of this workshop is to introduce students to the 'drag & drop' environment of LEGO EV3 Block programming. The beauty of this type of coding is the ease in which students can program and view their instant successes. Students will work collaboratively in small groups solving a range of problems. The reactions of students completing the varying tasks is priceless with their confidence growing rapidly because of the simple but informative nature of the devices. While it is introductory the skills/concepts learnt will be carried through to all platforms of coding.

Below is a short video of kids from previous workshops.

It is best that participants have their own laptop to complete the challenges. Upon registering, details will be shared on the free software required to be installed. Some spare laptops can be supplied if required.

This workshop has been created to extend on the skills learnt in the Introductory Workshops. It takes students beyond simply controlling the robots to navigate through a designated course. Students will learn to make greater use of the available sensors, they will incorporate mathematical equations into their programming and plot geometric shapes.
